Starting from July 2020, ZALA AERO GROUP will begin regular air monitoring of infrastructure facilities of LUKOIL-Komi LLC

The work will be carried out from the Company's facilities on the territory of the Komi Republic for the first time. Air monitoring will be carried out over the oil and gas fields of the following territorial production enterprises: LUKOIL-USINSKNEFTEGAZ CCI, LUKOIL-UKHTANEFTEGAZ CCI and LUKOIL-SEVERNEFTEGAS CCI. The total length of the pipelines routes inspected for the period of work will be around 400,000 kilometers.

The requirements made by the client describe the best practices for the use of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) in the world. The main task of air monitoring using BAS is to monitor the state of the pipeline fleet, increase efficiency in ensuring industrial and environmental safety of hydrocarbon production and transportation facilities, and optimize the costs of traditional monitoring methods.

At each CCI of the company in the region, ZALA specialists will create dispatch points from which control over monitoring results from the UAV will be carried out. Dispatch points will ensure the operational interaction of LUKOIL-Komi LLC services with unmanned aircraft operators.

For air monitoring, ZALA UAS will be used, having the best technical characteristics in its class, equipped with a wide range of payloads with video, photos and thermal imaging modules, and meeting all customer requirements.

For 10 years, ZALA unmanned systems  have been regularly and successfully used in areas of the far north: Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), similar in climatic conditions to the area of work.

The air monitoring system will include automated data processing, for this task ZALA will use specialized software based on neural networks - GEOGRAPHICS. This software is capable of processing up to 5000 aerial photographs of one flight in a reduced time. To identify objects of regular and irregular geometric shapes, possible deviations of a functional or technological nature.

From the experience of using GEOGRAPHICS at other oil production and transportation facilities, the efficiency of unmanned systems is increased by at least 30%, and the processing and transmission of information is reduced by 2 times.

Before the introduction of air monitoring, regular inspection of the infrastructure was quite time-consuming and expensive - traditional monitoring tools are much more expensive and less efficient from a production point of view. Using an unmanned aircraft is much more economical, it allows to increase the number of flights, significantly improve the quality of observation, while reducing risks to the life and health of personnel.

Continuous technology updates, the creation of intelligent software, the development of new target loads with even better optics, allows the company to constantly improve the quality of remote sensing of the earth and provide the customer with monitoring results with a high level of detail and measurement accuracy.
