Drones are changing the domestic fuel and energy sector

Media Sector, 30.06.2022

Every year, unmanned technologies are increasingly used in various industries around the world. The oil and gas industry is no exception. Drones help oil companies monitor production sites, monitor the environmental situation, storage and transport. What other tasks do drones solve, and how will they change the industry in the near future?

During the pandemic, oil and gas production companies changed their approach to personnel work organisation. Some employees were transferred to remote mode, and an observation period was established before access to facilities was granted. This created certain difficulties, and as a consequence, many works started to be performed using unmanned aerial systems. First of all, this is the control of energy production and transportation facilities. The inspection of production sites is increasingly being entrusted to UAVs. Also, drones are more actively used in surveying activities to compile mapping material for geospatial data collection.

Nowadays, unmanned aviation is no longer considered exotic for the oil industry. Drones help to solve a whole range of tasks with minimum risks.
