At the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, ZALA signed a cooperation agreement with the Sakhalin Regional Government and Aurora Airlines«
The Sakhalin Oblast Government, ZALA and Aurora Airlines have agreed to develop a partnership in the field of unmanned aviation. The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum by the region’s governor, Valery Limarenko, and ZALA’s deputy CEO, Sergey Lyustarnov. Aurora’s CEO, Konstantin Sukhorebrik, took part remotely.
The parties intend to jointly develop the unmanned sector – from software to ground infrastructure. A key part of this partnership is the decision to deploy the ZALA «GEOCOSMOS» sovereign communications and navigation system».
«This is a historic moment; we have signed an agreement with the Sakhalin Region to deploy the «GEOCOSMOS» system. This is an independent navigation and communications system that will ensure the country’s sovereignty in terms of technological solutions for controlling various robotic systems in different environments. It will provide navigation independent of satellite constellations and allow flight even under difficult conditions: in the presence of radio interference and, consequently, the absence of satellites. It will enable the maximum utilisation of ground-, air- and sea-based robotic systems, ensuring sovereignty and border protection,» said Sergey Lyustarnov, Deputy Director General of ZALA.
The ZALA UAVs have long been successfully carrying out monitoring tasks in the region. At the same time, in collaboration with Aurora-BAS, the systems are undergoing continuous refinement, and recent talks in Izhevsk have cemented plans to develop the unmanned sector and transfer the technologies developed to manned aviation, added Sergey Lyustarnov.
