Valery Limarenko visited the ZALA production facility ahead of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum

Valery Limarenko, Governor of the Sakhalin Region, and Konstantin Sukhorebrik, CEO of Aurora Airlines, visited the ZALA manufacturing complex in Izhevsk. The visit took place ahead of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum, where the parties plan to sign Cooperation agreement.

During the visit, the participants were shown the full production cycle of the ZALA BVS and domestic sovereign communication and navigation system «GEOKOSMOS». The key theme of the meeting was the integration of advanced technologies into the socio-economic development of the Sakhalin region, including strengthening the maritime security of the island region. Valery Limarenko emphasised that the partnership is aimed not only at introducing innovations but also at achieving a tangible effect for the residents and economy of the region. Priority areas identified include the digitalisation of the sector and the creation of conditions for the regular use of UAS.

The Sakhalin Region is a leader in Russia in the use of unmanned aerial systems in the national economy. The ZALA UAS is already being used to monitor flood conditions and forest fires. The key operator is Aurora-BAS, a subsidiary of Aurora Airlines. The organisation is engaged in developing cooperation between UAVs and manned aviation to address economic challenges in the Far East.
