The ZALA ZARYA on-board ABC dosimeter was tested during an EMERCOM exercise

ZALA ZARYA ABCs took part in a large-scale exercise of the Russian Emergencies Ministry on prevention and elimination of emergencies caused by natural fires. The training events took place on 23-24 April in Voznesensky district of Nizhny Novgorod region under the leadership of Lieutenant General Valentin Nelyubov, head of the Main Fire Department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry. The exercises were attended by Colonel Sergei Mokhov, Deputy Director of the Department of Civil Defence and Population Protection of the Russian EMERCOM, representatives of the All-Russian Research Institute for Civil Defence and Emergency Situations, as well as the Directorate of Aviation and Aviation Rescue Technologies of the Russian EMERCOM, and employees of subdivisions of the Main Directorate of the EMERCOM in Nizhny Novgorod Region.
During the exercise, flights of the new specialised ZALA ZARYA-1 and ZALA ZARYA-1M UAVs were conducted. Particular attention during the exercises was paid to the issues of ensuring timely and high-quality transmission of information from the UAV's instruments, as well as to the organisation of interaction with EMERCOM aircraft, including when guiding them to drop fire extinguishing agents into natural fires.
In addition, a new target load for the ZALA UAV - a dosimeter - was tested during the exercise. The device allows remote measurements of the radiation background of the area both during the survey of emergency areas and as part of regular monitoring. Thus, rescuers can promptly and without risk to life and health conduct surveys of hard-to-reach and remote areas.
The ZALA ZARYA-1 and ZALA ZARYA-1M onboard dosimeters of the UAV successfully monitored the radiation background. ZALA specialists together with the Ministry of Emergency Situations modelled situations of man-made disasters, during the elimination of which the use of this target load on the UAS would be effective, and discussed the improvement of the onboard dosimeter software.
ZALA ZARYA UAV is the latest generation of unmanned systems developed by the company specifically for the needs of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, taking into account the long-standing experience of cooperation between ZALA and the Ministry of Emergency Situations. At the end of 2024, this type of ZALA unmanned vehicles was delivered to regional units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in more than 60 cities of Russia. ZARYA is also in demand by specialists from other government agencies that ensure the safety of Russian citizens.
