Northern Lights through the eyes of ZALA T-16 pilots

The Northern Lights are one of the most beautiful natural phenomena caused by solar activity. The year 2024 was marked by a series of powerful geomagnetic storms, the strongest in the last 20 years. Operators of ZALA T-16 unmanned aerial systems share mesmerising images of the aurora borealis, which they regularly observe during the monitoring of fuel and energy sector line infrastructure in Siberia and the Far North.
The T-16 civil unmanned aerial vehicle, the most popular type of UAV in ZALA's serial range, is used by many fuel and energy companies across Russia to ensure safety and effective monitoring of trunk pipelines. ZALA developers are constantly working on expanding the capabilities of their products. ZALA T-16 are equipped with high quality video cameras and thermal imagers of high clarity and resolution, which allow to carry out aerial monitoring round the clock, including in poor visibility conditions. ZALA's unified software loop, based on artificial intelligence algorithms, allows automatic detection of changes in objects, processing and storing the information obtained. The customer also receives secure access to video broadcasts from ZALA aircraft and monitors the situation at the sites in real time in parallel with the flight crew.
