Izhevsk school No. 72 will be named after ZALA chief designer Alexander Zakharov

In the year of the 265th anniversary of Izhevsk, two city schools will be named after gunsmiths. As The press service of the administration of the capital of Udmurtia reportsschool No. 40 will be named after the legendary designer Mikhail Timofeevich Kalashnikov. School No. 72 will be named after Alexander Vyacheslavovich Zakharov, Chief Designer of ZALA and Honourable Citizen of Izhevsk. Alexander Zakharov studied at School No. 72 for 10 years - from 1973 to 1983. In 2024, an information board with the name of the ZALA chief designer was unveiled on the facade of the school.

Alexander Vyacheslavovich met with high school students: he told them how his childhood hobby of aircraft modelling had grown into a successful company, whose products and services are in demand all over the world, and answered their questions. The museum of School No. 72 has a stand and an exposition dedicated to the studies and work of the outstanding graduate. Alexander Zakharov is the founder of ZALA, which has become the leading domestic developer and manufacturer of unmanned aircraft systems. He is the creator of Russia's first KUB barrage munition and more advanced models of the Lancet family of barrage munitions. Today ZALA products are actively used by the Russian Armed Forces, as well as in the protection of state borders, monitoring of high-risk objects and emergency sites. In addition, ZALA is a leader in providing aerial monitoring services for linear infrastructure of the country's fuel and energy complex.
