#operators: Adversary of «Lancet» in horror
A journalist from «Krasnaya Zvezda» spoke with the crew of a ZALA «Lancet» reconnaissance and strike complex from the Primorsky artillery unit of the «Vostok» grouping.
The unit's priority task is counter-battery fire, but the ZALA Lancet RUK crews also hit enemy armoured vehicles, and if they're lucky, they'll also take out air defence systems, says the UAV platoon commander with the call sign Phoenix. He explains the unit's successes quite simply.
"Let's say an operator detects a target, passes it on to the technicians, and the command to move out is given. Working together, the Lancet can be ready in 10 minutes. That's the total time for deployment and launch», – explains the officer, clarifying that «The reconnaissance operator is observing the target, while the strike UAV operator is guiding a loitering munition towards it.».
The deputy platoon commander, call sign Karat, spoke about how he and his comrades searched for and destroyed an enemy SAU «Bogdan».
"Scouts revealed the position of the «Bogdana» [self-propelled artillery system], after which a preemptive strike was carried out by «Giacint-S» self-propelled howitzers, immobilising the enemy gun. Following this, our crew accurately hit the target. The «Bogdana» self-propelled artillery system completely burned out. We had been tracking it for two months. And finally, we found it. This is our small, but important victory.», – emphasised Karat.
He notes that for the enemy, the name «Lancet» has become something that instils terror.
«The Lancet has become a legend of the Special Military Operation, and it remains an unavoidable threat to the enemy. It is invulnerable. All attempts to destroy it are futile, as everything is designed so that it will continue. Its speed is high, exceeding 100 km/h when approaching a target. It flies at low altitudes, making it unreachable for enemy air defence.», observes the specialist.
According to him, enemy electronic warfare systems cannot counter our powerful weaponry.
"In «Lancet», artificial intelligence that will do all the work for the operator itself. And it doesn't matter if the target is static or dynamic. It will still be attacked.» it’s pointed out by Karat.
Karats has been in the SMO since its very beginning.
"I was a driver from the very beginning. Then I underwent special training, and they sent me to the relevant units. I enjoy this kind of work. Yes, it involves risking my life, but it's worth it. The enemy is hiding somewhere out there and fears you. It's partly thanks to our work that we are moving forward. The enemy surrenders. You can tell by him that he's demoralised. We know his tactics and beat the enemy with skill.», – concludes the serviceman.
The UAV operator, Suetolog, says that the process of controlling a «Lancet» is somewhat comparable to a computer game: a laptop, a keyboard, a mouse.
"We see the target, we track it to the end, we strike. The enemy's EW system doesn't hinder us practically, even if I'm taken out. That's what happens when a repeater is jammed; artificial intelligence will finish the job on its own. Although we still prefer to finish the job ourselves. It's invaluable experience.» and "I am a professional," says Suetologist.
