ZALA drones will accompany the 65th Russian Antarctic Expedition

The Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute acquired an unmanned complex ZALA 421-08M of special modification ARCTIC. The management of the research institute plans to use it for ice reconnaissance and research work.

Later this year, the ZALA UAV will accompany the 65th Russian Antarctic Expedition - the data from the drone will help researchers establish a safe route for the expedition vessel.

The ZALA 421-08M will also perform aerial photography to analyse natural phenomena in the ocean, aerial census of animals, environmental assessment and cartographic work.
The ZALA 421-08M ARCTIC UAV is a compact unmanned aircraft, resistant to strong wind gusts up to 20 m/s and low temperatures down to -50°C, which is especially important for the harsh climate of the Antarctic region.
