Production of cargo drones launched in Izhevsk

Cargo copters have passed test trials. They are used to deliver food from cafes and restaurants to customers' homes. The maximum weight of the cargo is 2.5kg.

Once the order is packed, lunch boxes are no longer issued by courier here. Operators request permission to take off.

"Ready. Start."

Drones in the skies above Izhevsk fly in fully automatic mode.

"It is the control of the drone itself that is required of us to intervene quickly in case of any abnormal situation." (Alexander Golikov, Head of Training Centre of ZALA AERO)

Unmanned couriers deliver food within a 7km radius.

Prior to the flights, laser scanning of the terrain was performed. This allowed to ensure the accuracy of coordinates up to 1 cm.

From a height of 20 metres, the system lowers the parcel using cables.

"Very convenient, especially now, in a pandemic, such contactless delivery." (Delivery Customer)

Eight electric motors can ensure flight even during strong winds of up to 15 metres per second.

"The equipment is prepared for any weather conditions. Including Arctic conditions. We can fly from +50 to -50 C. Precipitation: snow, fog. It's not a problem for us." (Nikolay Dardonov, Deputy Head of ZALA AERO)

There are more than 2,000 unmanned systems in the company's flight units. State border protection, rescue operations, oil and gas infrastructure monitoring and other tasks.

Among the latest developments are civilian electronic drone suppression rifles.

"If you have a drone coming in. It is disturbing you, filming you, threatening you. When you activate the launch, it will automatically land." (Alexander Cherepanov Head of Special Projects, ZALA AERO)

The new delivery service is still operating only in areas with low-rise buildings. In the near future, they are ready to expand the territory of flights around the city.
