ZALA Lancet UAVs – the «eyes of the army» in the Dobropillia direction

The ZALA UAVs of the «Center» group's artillery formation are controlling distant AFU positions using the ZALA Z-16 reconnaissance drone. A flight range of a hundred kilometres, high manoeuvrability and resistance to enemy EW allow for effective monitoring of enemy territory.

«It feels like all positions are dead and there's no one there, but in reality, there are positions in every tree line. We've been fighting for so many years, they've already learned to hide, cover their tracks, and camouflage their positions well, but some elements can still be identified and the positions found,» noted Alexey Bayenkov, a ZALA UAV operator from the artillery unit of the «Center» group.

Russian acoustic and radar systems help to detect enemy firing points: they track the firing of guns. The Z-16 crew receives an approximate square, flies out for further reconnaissance, and a «Lancet» loitering munition is sent to the target. However, the task of ZALA crews is far from simple. The enemy actively uses signal jamming systems and deliberately hunts for Russian reconnaissance UAVs. To survive in such conditions, the ZALA «Lancet» control unit is constantly evolving, helping fighters to manoeuvre quickly in case of an air attack and maintain effectiveness even under active EW.
